There are evidences Badeh was killed by hired sharpshooters in a ‘targeted attack’, associate reveals

More intrigues have continued to play out following the murder of the immediate past Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, as an associate to the deceased who preferred anonymity insists that his colleague was killed by expert marksmen.

Badeh was reportedly shot by unknown gunmen while returning from his farm along Abuja-Keffi Road on December 18.

The Police on Thursday said it had arrested two principal suspects and three other suspects in connection with the crime.

One of the principal suspects, Shuaibu Rabi had confessed that information had leaked that the ex-CDS was carrying a huge amount of money for the purchase of parcel of land and his gang were on a mission to rob him of the money before complications arose and Badeh was shot.

But the family of the deceased denied the claim, accusing the police of cooking up a story to mislead the public.

The family explained that, until the day he was killed, Badeh never had an amount up to N500 on him and was so broke that he couldn’t pay some of his domestic staff.

However, an associate of the deceased, told Punch that a crime scene analysis, the bullet’s trajectory and pictures had indicated that Badeh’s killers were not hoodlums.

He said, “As an intimate friend of the late CDS, I can tell you categorically that Badeh had no such money. He was very broke and could not pay his domestic staff and power bills. At a time, I volunteered to raise N50,000 to enable him to settle part of the bills, but he declined, saying he would harvest some crops on his farm and sell them to raise money.
“That was why he went to the farm to harvest the crops but he was ambushed and killed.

“He was very broke because all his accounts had been frozen by the court and his pension stopped. So, how could a man who could not pay his bills pay N2m for a farmland as claimed by the police investigation? That is stretching the lies too far.”

Another friend of the late CDS hinted that the late CDS was making plans to join the campaign team of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, before he was killed.

The source explained that Badeh delayed the announcement because his lawyer asked him to suspend the move and prepare for the opening of the defence of his corruption case which was slated for January 16, 17 and 18, 2019.

While giving reason why Badeh might have been killed, the associate explained that his death will stop him from revealing in court those who shared the money for arms for which he was being prosecuted.
